Good news!

I just talked to my artist son today and he said that one of the animation  studios has asked him if he would do an internship with them this fall!  Yay!  We hope it pays, but even if it doesn't, it's good for his resume.  The only thing is...he'll need a car.  He's going to check to see if any other students have been invited as well.  It would be nice if they could carpool.  If not, I think I can help him come up with a car.

I also talked to my daughter who turned 21 today... no, she didn't go out and get drunk!  YAY!  I didn't think she would, but it was nice for it to be confirmed.  She's so happy to be back at school!  At first, she checked into her new apartment and was so discouraged.  It was a dump!  She hadn't paid anything on it yet, so she decided that she would look around some more to see if she could do better. 

It's a good thing she did!  She found a fabulous place for just a little bit more where she gets her own room, has a full kitchen and FREE laundry!  She said that even the bed is the best thing she's ever slept on!  She is soooo happpy!

Apparantly, the couple who own the building, which is new, are very young, like around 25.  They have put a lot of nice touches into it which make my daughter feel very cared for and lucky to be there.  I sure hope it works out for all.

I'd like to be that kind of landlord, thinking of everything...but I'm so bad at letting things slip through the cracks.  I just talked to a friend who has been living in the same place for almost 8 years, and the landlord has not fixed or repaired anything in all that time!  But he never fails to raise the rent!  Actually, sometimes I wonder if I even want to be a landlord at all.  I sometimes think I'd rather sell it once we get it fixed up.

Right now, I think I need to focus on my own house for a day.  Things are looking pretty shaggy.  Tomorrow's my birthday, and I'll be having people over.  And my kitchen is horrible!  10yo has been good at keeping me fed, but she doesn't like to clean up after herself.  I hate to complain because I think it's so sweet of her to cook for me.  I'll try to get up early in the morning and do it.  It's best to tackle something like that when you are fresh and rested.
