Hubby wants me to help organize things to go to the dump. This, after he's brought home piles of discarded magazines almost every day this week! He's also been on a 'toy buying spree' for a couple of months! My gut reaction is to say "you first!" But I'm resisting, because I know it needs to be done. So, I am going to force myself to deal with my own garbage and hope that he will do the same.
I cringe at the thought that I have to make decisions about throwing things away! It's so easy to pick things up, and so hard to disgard them. It's all because I think constantly of possibilities...and seeing them anew, reminds me of what trigered me to pick them up in the first place, and to hang on to them.
They say you shouldn't keep anything that you don't absolutely love or believe to be useful. Well, I love it a lot of things, or I believe most of my stuff to be useful! I don't subscribe at all to the notion that if you haven't used it in a year...blah, blah, blah. There are many things in this house that I use about once a year. And when I do, I take great pleasure in having it for just such an occasion!
But alas...I am now having a hard time finding those precious treasures. Our garage is impassable. The wonderful things we have are of no use if we can't get to them. The house I have labored to restore is only operating at 80% capacity when rooms that could be 'lived in' are used only as 'storage facilities'. And while they are thus used, I have no way to improve upon them.
I would really rather be doing something more 'meaningful'. But the quantity of clutter and accumulation is affecting how effectively our time is used. So...it's time! Better get to it!

Best of luck with cleaning and organizing. I hate it - until it's done!
Yep! Then you wonder why you waited so long!
Gettting it all cleaned out will be a true cleansing experience - both outward and inward.....good luck!
It always has to get worse before it can get better. We got a good start on it though. I really am looking forward to that ''true cleansing experience!"
